The draw for 2010 Australian Open was held at Melbourne Park on Friday morning ahead of the start of play on Monday

In the Men’s draw, defending champion Rafael Nadal faces Aussie Peter Luczak in the first round.
The draw threw up a potential problem for 15-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer, who could meet Russian sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko in the quarter-finals.

Davydenko has beaten Swiss star Federer in their last two meetings.

Federer starts his quest for a sixteenth Grand Slam title against Russian Igor Andreev, while Andy Murray opens up against a qualifier.

Australian Lleyton Hewitt, who is guaranteed to have strong fan support in Melbourne, also starts his campaign against a qualifier and could face Federer in the fourth round, while Juan Martin Del Potro, winner of the US Open last September, could face American James Blake in round two.

In the Women's draw, returning Belgian star Justine Henin will meet compatriot Kirsten Flipkens in the opening round ahead of a potential tough second round tie against number five seed Elena Dementieva.

Kim Clijsters, who won her first major back after a lengthy absence at last year’s US Open, could meet Henin in the quarter-finals in a rematch from their recent clash in the final of the Brisbane International, which Clijsters took in three tight sets.

Australian Open 2010 day one preview -watch live online

Defending champion Rafael Nadal, British number one Andy Murray and an all-Russian clash headline the first day of the 2010 Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena on Monday
2008 winner and number 14 seed Maria Sharapova and gets proceedings underway at 11am local time when she takes on compatriot Maria Kirilenko.

Kim Clijsters is also in action on centre court during the day, while the night session sees three Australian players in action, including Peter Luczak, who faces one of the biggest matches of his career when he takes on second seed and defending champion Nadal from 7pm local time.

At the Hisense Arena, women’s number two seed Dinara Safina is first on court at 11am, with Andy Roddick, Juan Martin del Potro and Justine Henin all in action later in the day.

Rafael Nadal is taking nothing for granted ahead of the defence of his Australian Open title.
The 2010 Australian Open gets underway on Monday and you can watch all the action live
The brilliant Spaniard beat Roger Federer in last year's final and while Nadal is strongly fancied to retain his crown when this year's tournament gets started, his preparation has been less than spectacular - as shown when he was beaten by Nikolay Davydenko in the final of the ATP warm-up tournament in Doha last week.
Nadal is 7/2 to win the first Grand Slam event of 2010, second in the betting to 5/2 favourite Federer.
